Rolling Square inCharge XS Updates the Keychain Charger to Support 240W Fast Charging
Rolling Square makes one of the best travel gadgets out there with their keychain-sized charging cable. It’s just the most convenient way to carry any kind of charging cable as part of your everyday carry. The Rolling Square inCharge XS uses that same clever design for a 240W charging cable.
That’s right, this keychain tool is capable of 240W ultra-fast charging, allowing you to juice up laptops, tablets, and other battery-powered gadgets you have in your stash. This makes it quite the upgrade from the previous version’s 100W max, making the impressively compact device even more powerful than before.
The Rolling Square inCharge XS works much like the previous version, basically giving you a small cable with nesting connectors on either end. Instead of a six-in-one function found in the last version, though, it’s now a four-in-one, as they took out the microUSB in this iteration, which is probably for the best, considering there aren’t really new devices from the past couple of years that use them. For this version, one end has a USB-C and a USB-A connector, while the other has a USB-C and Lightning. As before, you simply plug in whichever connectors you want and the cable will handle the transfer of power between the plugged ends.
Using the onboard connectors, it can be configured to work as a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a USB-C to Lightning cable, and a USB-A to Lightning cable. Not only can you use it with traditional USB power outlets such as those in computers, wall adapters, and power banks, it even has an OTG chip that lets you charge various devices using a USB-C phone as a power source. Sure, you probably don’t want to drain your phone by charging your Bluetooth headphones on it, but this thing lets you do that in a pinch when you need it.
The Rolling Square inCharge XS supports charging speeds of up to 240W, though we’re not sure what devices can actually charge at those crazy speeds, as well as Apple’s fast charging up to 27W, so you can make the most out of your powerful adapters. The cables support data transfers, too, so you should also be able to use this for copying and moving files between devices (albeit only at 480 Mbps read and 60 Mbps write speeds), on top of the handy charging function. Each of the outer connectors on the end get N52 magnets, by the way, which allow them to snap together when you fold the cable for an even more compact form factor.
Do note, this is very small for a charging cable. In fact, it only measures 6.1 inches end-to-end when fully deployed. That means, you’re limited to keeping devices in close proximity when charging, but that’s the tradeoff for being able to carry four literal charging cables in a compact keychain-sized tool. Other features include 200 braided copper wires for durability, TPU cable guard middle layer, nylon braided exterior, and a slide-on protective cap for the outer connectors.
The Rolling Square inCharge XS is available in three colors, namely gray, beige, and orange, priced at $25.
